Same shop, same people, same old sh**, but, a completely new way of working for us.

June 23rd 2020

Like just about every other person on this planet, we have had to adapt our way of working. These aren’t just “guidelines” for us, but a complete change in how we work. We understand that these changes will not suit everyone, and it will take time for us all to learn the new way of doing things, hopefully, there won’t be too many hiccups along the way. Our aim is to still offer the same excellent service and value that we have always strived to achieve, but our services and our time is limited. With this in mind we have had to introduce some big changes, maybe short term, maybe long. We can’t cater for everyone and we’re very sorry if this does not work for you, please bear in mind that things have changed.

  • Appointment only: we are not taking walk ins at the moment. We will working by booking only. This can be done through our website or our Facebook page. You may well stop by, if passing, to see if any bookings are available and we will endeavour to help you with this process, either in person or by phone if possible. We can not have people waiting in the shop for the next available space. We will be working in shifts to cover more hours with shifts scattered to cover early and late hours, so hopefully you can get the barber you want, when you want them, at some stage over the week.

  • Social distancing: To maintain social distancing, we will be limiting the number of people in the shop. Only 3 members of staff shall be working in the shop at one time, effectively every other chair. This will mean only 3 customers in at one time as well. We will stagger appointment times to have as little traffic at one time as possible. We ask that, where possible, you come on your own for your appointment. There will be space for 1 parent\ career if needed.

  • Limited services: Unfortunately we are having to limit the services we can offer under currant guidelines. This could change, but for now we will not be able to offer the following;

  • Dry cuts: from now, We are not able to offer dry cuts, ie cutting the hair without washing it. ALL of our hair services will now include a shampoo & conditioner with the cut. Obviously this will effect the cost. Not everyone will agree, or like this but we feel it is the one viable way for us to stay safe and be able to carry on.

  • Beards & Shaving: Although you may of been waiting ages to have that bush around your face cut, we will not be able to offer any kind of face to face service including beard trimming, shaping or shaving.

  • 0-4 year olds: This is a hard one for us as we have always believed that the kids are our next generation of customers, but for now, we’re going to have to say no. 0-4 year olds, even the good ones, generally require a lot more face to face contact than the older ones and can need to sit on another persons lap.

  • Complementary Services: Again, unfortunately, we will not be able to offer any use of the hot or cold drinks machine . So for now, no tea, coffee or water. There will also be no newspapers or magazine available. Although at the moment, you can still safely watch our tv or listen to our music!

  • Toilet: For now, the toilet will be for staff use only to limit the use and risk, barring emergencies!!

  • Pricing: Nobody likes, or wants this,  but unfortunately all this comes at a cost! We have had to reevaluate what we can offer, in terms of service and time which means we have had to update our pricing policy accordingly. Please see website for latest pricing.

  • Payment: At the moment, we would prefer card payment. Our new booking system means that you can pay upfront when you book, securely online, using PayPal or bank card. If services are to be paid on the day, we have contactless pay that can be used.

  • Sanitation: At the entrance, there will be a sanitation station with both hand sanitiser and wipes. Please sanitise your hands as soon as you enter the shop. We are allowing a 10 minute break between each appointment to sanitise throughly between each client. Out tools will be either be changed or disinfected between each client. A through clean down of the shop will be done every night.

  • PPE: Staff will wear either a mask or a visor. We feel this is the safest way to allow us to communicate with you. It will be strange, but for now, strange is the new norm! Customers can wear their own mask if they wish although this is not mandatory. We will be using disposable gowns and towels on each customers. Again, not ideal, but the best option. We do have gloves but the reality of using 30 odd pairs of gloves a day may not be practical and there is the issue of allergy’s. A lot of the gloves contain latex, which a lot of people are allergic to, but with the hair being washed first before cutting we will not need these. If you’d prefer your barber to wear gloves, please just ask.

Our staff and customers safety and well-being is our main concern. We want you to feel as relaxed and safe as possible as we all try to get back to some sort of normality. Our job is very tactile work. We can not get away from the fact It involves touching and communicating! We have put certain measures in place to allow this to continue as safely as possible.

Our aim is to provide you with the safest, cleanest environment we can for you to once again be able to enjoy your barber shop experience.

We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Thank you,

Giuseppes.
